My second book is out!

It’s fourteen months since I wrote this blog, about binning off 30,000 words of a book that wasn’t working and starting again on something new. I also mentioned the inspiration for that new story, which was something random I read on Facebook about a hair straightener fire. I don’t remember the details, but it seemed like a good a place to start a book as any, and three weeks of frantic keyboard hammering later I was forty thousand words in. By the autumn my editor had read the manuscript and called me to say “we love this so much, can we make it Book Two?”

And so here we are – Never Gonna Happen is out in all formats TODAY, and I’m really excited for people to read it. Of the four (and a half) books I’ve now written, it was the one that came together the easiest, and the one that was the most fun – I’d happily write a whole other spin-off book about Emily’s mum Carol. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it, and thanks for all your lovely messages.
